According to a January 2018 IFOP/Lasce survey, 26% of French adults have used a dating platform—and nearly half of those admitted they were looking to cheat.
Back in January 2018, an eye-opening IFOP/Lasce poll revealed that 26% of French adults had already tried a matchmaking platform or dating app—and an astonishing 48% of those users admitted to seeking out a little infidelity on the side!
A Habit That Pours Heavily Into the Male Demographic
Unsurprisingly, guys make up the lion's share of this crowd at 59%, typically falling into the 25-to-35 age bracket as active platform regulars.
Better yet, over half of these digital daters eventually take the plunge, turning their pixelated chemistry into real-world meetups.
Women Play It Safer When It Comes to Straying
For roughly 68% of women aged 25 to 34, these sites have successfully opened the door to physical or emotional affairs.
When it comes to sealing the deal immediately, just 51% of women jump straight into bed after a first flirt—a stark contrast to the guys, where a whopping 80% plus dive right in!
Mostly Just a Passing Thrill
When French singles turn to dating sites, hookups are clearly the name of the game: 62% report having at least one one-night stand. Again, men dominate this category at 72%, and according to the data, 61% of these trysts went down right at someone's apartment.
A Mixed Bag of Motives
The research points out that roughly a quarter of users juggle multiple romantic or purely sexual partners concurrently, with men leading the charge at 31%.
Meanwhile, 63% are actively hunting for an upgrade. This is heavily driven by men under 25—a massive 77% of whom admit to it—while only 22% of committed women confess to looking elsewhere for love.
Age Dictates the Dating Game
Attached women in their thirties are actually more proactive about hunting for a side partner than their male peers (36% versus 29%). However, once they hit their forties, ladies tend to age out of the habit (dropping to 17%), whereas guys just keep right on swiping and searching at 31%.
Conducted entirely via telephone between December 28, 2017, and January 3, 2018, the IFOP/Lasce survey sampled 2,012 respondents to accurately mirror the makeup of the mainland population aged 18 to 69.
